NBA Out For Season Injuries | 2017 - 2018



Atlanta Hawks guard Kent Bazemore out for season with a bone bruise in his right knee. Bazemore has arguably been Atlanta's most important player this season, providing two-way value as the team's best perimeter defender and knocking down more than 39 percent of his three-point attempts.

Boston Celtics center Daniel Theis out for season due to a torn meniscus in his left knee. Theis has been a bit of a surprise for the Celtics. Expected to just provide rotation minutes, he has turned into one of their better big men and has filled the role well when guys like Al Horford have to sit out.

Brooklyn Nets guard Jeremy Lin out for season due to right knee injury. Lin was hurt on October 18, 2017 during the Net's first game of the season when he landed hard after a drive to the basket in the fourth quarter. The Nets said the surgery was successful and Lin is expected to make a full recovery.

Charlotte Hornets guard Michael Carter-Williams out for season with shoulder injury. Per an official announcement from Hornets, Carter-Williams will have surgery to repair a posterior labral tear in his left shoulder. Carter-Williams suffered the injury during the Hornets' March 4 loss to the Toronto Raptors. He did return to the game in the third quarter, but an MRI confirmed surgery was necessary.

Dallas Mavericks guard Wesley Matthews out for season with stress fracture in his right leg. He will not undergo surgery, and instead will rest to recover from injury. Matthews suffered injury in the Mavericks' win over the Grizzlies on March 10. He logged 25 minutes then sought an MRI after his right leg swelled following the game.

Detroit Pistons power forward Jon Leuer out for season with surgery on ankle injury. Leuer suffered the ankle injury on October 31, and he has appeared in just eight games this season. The 28 year-old veteran came off bench in his eight appearances this season and averaged 5.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverly out for season with right knee surgery. Beverley's surgery required a repair of a  microfracture and meniscus injury. The estimated time for such injury is nine months, meaning Beverly is expected to make a full recovery to return next season.

Memphis Grizzles guard Mike Conley out for season with heel surgery. The team noted that the injury has been causing him pain and soreness. He is expected to make a full recovery for the 2018-2019 season. He has averaged just 17.1 points and 4.1 assists to go with a career-low 38.1 shooting percentage in 2017-2018.

Miami Heat guard Dion Waiters out for season with left ankle surgery. He was averaging 14.3 points, 3.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds prior to going out of the lineup.

New Orleans Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins out for season with torn left achilles tendon injury. Cousins and Davis have been a dynamic duo this season, bucking the trend of teams going smaller across all positions. Cousins' passing and shooting has helped the Pelicans find room to operate with two big men, and with Cousins and Davis sharing the floor, the Pelicans have outscored teams by four points per 100 possessions.

New York Knicks power forward Kristaps Porzingis out for season with a torn ACL injury. Porzingis was averaging 22.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and a league-leading 2.4 blocks per game. He was voted to his first-ever All-Star game as a reserve.

Oklahama City Thunder guard Andre Roberson out for season with ruptured patellar tendon. Roberson was averaging 5.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. His biggest contributions come on the defensive end, however, where he's established himself as one of the best perimeter stoppers in the NBA. Roberson's defensive impact was huge. The Thunder have given up 95.9 points per 100 possessions over 539 minutes when Roberson plays with Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Carmelo Anthony and Steven Adams. Take Roberson out of that group, however, and they've given up 114.5 points per 100 possessions.

Phoenix Suns guard Brandon Knight out for season with torn ACL injury in his left knee. The injury occured while he was playing at home in South Florida. The 25-year-old appeared 54 games last season, averaging 11.0 points and 2.4 assists in 21.1 minutes per game.

Utah Jazz guard Thabo Sefolosha out for season with right knee surgery to repair an avulsion of the MCL which he suffered against Charlotte Hornets on Jan.12. In his 12th NBA Season, Sefolosha was averaging 8.2 points, his highest scoring average since 2008-09, on 49.2 percent from the field, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 38 games.
